Surrounded by rich farming land among the picturesque volcanic hills halfway between Daylesford and Ballarat in Victoria

Scrub Hill is an easy 1 hour 15 minute drive from Melbourne via the Western Freeway (M8)


We offer exclusive access to the entire property or the Bluestone Church, Sunday School and Himalayan Tree Lawn are available individually

Saturday is reserved for exclusive bookings (includes all areas)

Sunday-Friday allows for separate area bookings (time frames apply) 

Hours available are between 9.00am to 11.00pm

Bluestone Church

Comfortably – 50 (seated dining) or 120 (standing)

Sunday School

Comfortably – 30 (seated dining) or 80 (standing)


Prices range from $500 for the Himalayan Tree Lawn to $4,000 for exclusive use on Saturdays

Liquor Permit

Scrub Hill 1869 is not currently licensed for the sale of liquor

Where liquor is to be ‘supplied free of charge’ a temporary limited licence is not generally required. If you engage a third party who is providing liquor (eg catering company), check they hold the appropriate licence

A licence will be required if the supply of liquor is contingent on the sale or purchase of goods or services. If you intend to sell liquor at the event, any and all applicable licences/permits need to be approved/issued by the appropriate authorities

Responsible serving of alcohol guidelines are to be followed for any event

Upon Scrub Hill 1869 being granted a liquor license, all events where alcohol is available will require a bar service person who holds a current RSA (Responsible Serving of Alcohol) certificate.

Terms & Conditions


We welcome you to make a time to visit Scrub Hill 1869 to establish suitability and to discuss specific requirements for your event

To confirm your booking, please print the booking form, complete, sign and return to us

Any changes to your booking will need to be confirmed in writing and final consent remains with Scrub Hill 1869

Deposits & Payments

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the balance to be paid 30 days prior to the event

Preferred payment is by EFT – bank details will be provided upon booking confirmation

In the event you need to cancel your event, notification of:

  • 2 months or greater prior to the event date will receive a full refund, less a $200 administration fee
  • 1-2 months prior to the event date will forfeit the 50% initial deposit
  • Less than 1-month prior to the event date will not be entitled to a refund

Events that are rescheduled will not forfeit the deposit, however updated rates may apply

House Keeping

To ensure your comfort and safety we ask all guests and their agents to be mindful and comply with our Terms and Conditions and additional instructions when provided

Children must be under adult supervision at all times. This is to ensure safety for all, as Scrub Hill is surrounded by farmland and on a main road

We reserve the right to request security for an event and close an event if required for safety. We also reserve the right to ask any person behaving in an irresponsible manner to leave an event

Smoking Policy

The buildings of Scrub Hill 1869 are NON-SMOKING areas. Smoking may however be permitted in designated outside areas subject to weather/fire conditions. All patrons are to be advised and reminded on the day of the event of this requirement. Our intent is to minimise a risk of fire as the property contains a small pine and elm forest and is surrounded by productive farmland where there may be crops.

Suppliers, Contractors & External Products

We reserve the right to approve food, liquor and other suppliers or contractors

All suppliers or contractors must inform Scrub Hill 1869 of the event plan and arrange site access

Use of flower petals is negotiable; confetti, rice and glitter may not be brought on to the property

No items (eg nails, adhesives, fastenings) are to be driven into or attached to the walls, glass, floors, furniture, fittings and equipment without our prior approval

The booking patron is liable for any damages to venue property or ground caused by their guests or agents

Approved contractors will be responsible for loss or damage to their property and be responsible for the removal of their goods including all waste matter

Personal belongings and gifts brought to the venue are solely the owner’s responsibility

Scrub Hill 1869, or their representatives, is not liable for personal belongings and gifts brought to the property, any loss, damage or cost arising directly or indirectly in connection with your function and venue hire

Scrub Hill 1869, or their representatives, is exempted from liability for delays to a booked function that is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (eg extreme weather events). Every attempt will be made to reschedule any event affected
